NWBOC now provides The Veteran Business Enterprise (VBE) and Veteran Woman Business Enterprise (VWBE) applicants will undergo the same rigid process for certification that NWBOC has had in place for women owned businesses since 1995. The VBE certification process consists of a thorough review of a company's application to ensure it is at least 51.0 percent owned and controlled by a veteran. If the applicant company is owned by a female veteran, she will also receive the VWBE certification at no extra charge. Both certifications denote that a veteran has majority ownership and control of a business entity. VBE / VWBE Certification is not based on gender, race, or company size. NWBOC introduces our new online store! You are now able to purchase Application Kits online for our all of the certification we offer: WBE, WOSB, EDWOSB, VBE and VWBE.
NWBOC has noticed a trend, and is leading the way in providing information useful to women business owners. The trend is that large corporations and government entities that have long had supplier diversity programs are now asking if their women owners also have a supplier diversity plan of their own. Read NWBOC's "Diverse Contracting at Women-Owned Companies" article.
Obtaining WBE Certification is an important business development strategy for women business owners for two primary reasons:
First, most local and national government purchasing agencies track and/or have programs for doing business with women business owners. Having WBE Certification is the only way the purchasing agents have confidence that a business representing itself as woman-owned is in fact woman-owned. Second, in a similar manner many publicly-held corporations, as well as larger private corporations, also track and have programs for doing business with women-owned vendor companies. They, too, rely on WBE Certification.
NWBOC was established in 1995 for the purpose of increasing competition for corporate and government contracts through implementation of a pioneering economic development strategy for women business owners. NWBOC is a national 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, and is the first third-party, national certifier providing WBE Certification.
NWBOC now also provides WOSB and EDWOSB Certifications:
We have been approved by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to be a third-party certifier for the new women-owned small business federal contracting program, which will directly benefit many woman-owned companies across the nation. See our informational page.
